Easy, delightful sugar cookies.
We like them with cold milk or hot coffee

Ingredients
- 1 1/4 c Sugar
- 1 c Butter,softened - no substitute
- 3 Large egg yolks,beaten
- 1 t Vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 c Sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 t Baking soda
- 1/2 t Cream of tartar
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Lightly grease two cookie sheets.
- Cream sugar and butter together until light.
- Beat in yolks and vanilla.
- Sift together the measured sifted flour,baking soda and cream of tartar,then fold into the butter sugar mixture.
- Form dough into walnut size balls.
- Place 2" apart on the cookie sheets.
- Do not flatten.
- Bake for about 11 minutes,until tops are cracked and just turning color.
- Cool on wire rack.
- Makes 4 dozen.
- Note: I often add cinnamon and nutmeg to the dough and sprinkle baked cookies with granulated sugar.
