Winey Green Beans With Turkey Bacon Recipe

Winey Green Beans With Turkey Bacon Recipe
This is an easy, delicious way to prepare green beans. The salty flavor of the bacon works well with the sweetness of the wine.

Ingredients
  • 6 strips turkey bacon
  • 1 T olive oil
  • 1 large shallot, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1/3 C dry white wine
  • 1 lb. green beans
  • 1 T butter
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions
  1. Blanch green beans in a pot of salted water to desired doneness.
  2. Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp. (Add 1 or 2 t. of olive oil if needed. I usually don't need it.)
  3. Set aside bacon, and add olive oil to hot pan on medium.
  4. Add shallots and garlic and cook for 3-5 minutes, until softened.
  5. Deglaze pan with wine and cook for another 3 minutes or so until just a few tablespoons of wine are left.
  6. Add blanched green beans to pan, along with cooked, crumbled bacon, butter, and salt and pepper. Toss together.
