Ingredients
  • burgers
  • 3 lbs. ground chicken, turkey, bison or beef
  • 1 1/2 cups Panko ( Japanese bread crumbs ) or fresh dried white bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbs chopped scallions
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 Tbs. fresh chopped cilantro
  • 2 tsp hot Asian chili sauce
  • 1 cup bottled or prepared teriyaki sauce
  • 8 Tbs. honey
  • 2 tsp salt or to taste
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • Ginger Mayonnaise:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tsp fresh minced or bottled ginger
  • 2 tsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Fresh soft sesame seed hamburger buns
  • red leaf lettuce leaves
  • thin sliced onion
  • thin sliced tomato
  • thin sliced cucumber

Directions
  1. For the burgers mix well by hand the meat, eggs, bread crumbs, teriyaki sauce, honey, garlic, scallions cilantro, chili sauce and salt.
  2. This may be prepared in advance as well as the flavored mayonnaise .
  3. Form meat into patties.
  4. Prepare ginger mayonnaise by combining all ingredients.
  5. Grill burgers and place on a bun which has been spread liberally with the ginger mayonnaise.
  6. Top with lettuce, onion, tomatoes, cucumber.
  7. Makes 8 to 10 burgers. Recipe may be halved.
