How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Beat butter and shortening in a large bowl with an electric mixer.
  • Add brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt and mix well.
  • Add egg, milk and vanilla then beat until well mixed.
  • Add in flour and 1/2 cup chopped pecans then mix well with a wooden spoon.
  • Shape dough into 2 rolls then wrap in waxed paper and chill 4 hours.
  • Cut dough into 1/4" slices then place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 8 minutes.
  • Prepare frosting by heating together butter, sugar and cream in a small saucepan.
  • Remove from heat and add powdered sugar then beat with a whisk until smooth.
  • Spread over cookies as desired.
