Add Step-by-Step Photos

While time consuming to make, these are one of the best Oriental side dishes I've ever made. They also store and reheat well (or you can eat them cold). One of my wife's favorites.

Ingredients
  • 1 medium, diced
  • 1 package extra firm tofu cut into small squares
  • 2 cups rice, cooked
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ginger powder (I usually add more)
  • 1 teaspoon onion salt
  • 40 wonton wrappers
  • oil for deep frying

Directions
  1. Sauté diced onions until golden.
  2. Add tofu, rice, soy sauce, and all seasonings to the sauté until brown and just beginning to crisp.
  3. Remove sauté from heat and begin preparing your wonton wraps.
  4. Dab the outside edge of the wonton wrapper with water; moist, not wet. Place 1 teaspoon of sauté in each wrapper. Scrunch together the edge to make it a fan shape.
  5. Heat the deep frying oil on stove to medium high. Deep fry the wontons until they're golden and crisp.
  6. (Note: It's a good idea to let them drain on paper towels while they cool.)
