A tasty meat meal infused with flavors of onion and mustard. Make and bake. Even though you put on a lot of mustard,it is less pronounced once cooked, just makes it good stuff.

Ingredients
  • 4-6 meaty short ribs
  • 6 medium yellow onions
  • Yellow prepared mustard
  • 1 cup of water
  • Granulated garlic
  • Salt and Pepper

Directions
  1. Slice onions.
  2. Brown ribs in fry pan with oil.
  3. Place heavy duty foil on counter.
  4. Place a layer on onions on foil.
  5. Pour water on onions. You should have the edges of the foil turned up to keep water from flowing off.
  6. Sprinkle salt and pepper and garlic on all sides of ribs.
  7. Squirt mustard on ribs and rub mustard all over the rib. See pics.
  8. Place ribs on onions.
  9. Once all ribs are coated, cover with remaining onions.
  10. Fold foil and seal all seams.
  11. Place sealed foil pouch in a broiler pan so any juices don’t spill in oven.
  12. Place in preheated 350 F oven.
  13. Cook for two hours.
  14. Remove and let rest. Be careful opening foil.
  15. Six onions cook down to almost nothing and getting onions with each bite of meat is the best.
  16. I usually sprinkle a little salt and pepper on the ribs and onions once on the plate.

I lost my old recipe for these. Thanks for the post! All the pictures are terrific.


I make short ribs a lot of ways, but I've never made them this way. I reall do meke them a lot, most often I put them is soup or in the broiler with soy sauce and honey. I am going to do this soon, maybe even with some cabbage thrown in there. Great stuff!
