Tips For Starching Doilies Recipe
I collect doilies and found this tip off the Net to starch them so they hold their shape well

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • Another 1 1/4 cups cold water

Directions
  1. Dissove starch in the cold water.
  2. Bring the 1 1/4 cups water to a boil.
  3. Add starch solution and cook and stir, bringing to a boil till mixture thickens.
  4. Remove from heat, cool to warm.
  5. Dip crocheted items into starch to cover well.
  6. Smooth off excess starch with fingers.
  7. Gently reshape and lay flat the piece on a clean kitchen cloth and let dry out completely.
  8. This solutions makes for stiff or hard doilies.
  9. Excess starch solution may be stored in the Fridge for up to a week.
