Makes 13 dumplings . The skin will be very soft . It makes a great difference when you make your own dough rather than using the instant powder from the super market . One of my favourites .

Ingredients
  • Outer skin :
  • 1 C raw rice , soaked for 1 hr
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 C milk
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fillings :
  • 1 C fresh grated coconut , 1/2 C jaggery , 3 cardamoms , 1 tsp ghee - fry until thickens
  • OR
  • 1 C fresh grated carrot , 1/2 C caster sugar , fried nuts , 3 cardamoms , 1 tsp ghee - fry until thickens
  • OR
  • 6 cashewnuts , 6 almonds , 2 dates , 3 cherries , 12 raisins , 2 tsp sugar , 3 cardamoms , 2 tsp fresh grated coconut , 2 tsp roasted poppy seeds - mix well

Directions
  1. Add water and make a paste with the rice and salt in a food processor .
  2. Heat a pan . Add the oil , paste and milk .
  3. Stir until it thickens and roll into a dough .
  4. Make 13 balls .
  5. Flatten it abit and put the filling in the middle and cover it .
  6. Seal the edges .
  7. Steam for 5 mins and serve warm .
