Another of my mom's summer recipes which our family loves

Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 sticks butter
  • 1, 12 oz jar peach preserves

Directions
  1. Combine all dry ingredients.
  2. Cut in butter to make coarse crumbs.
  3. Reserve 1 cup crumbs.
  4. Press remaining crumbs in 9 inch square pan
  5. Spread with preserves all but to 1/4 inch of the edges.
  6. Sprinkle on remaing crumbs
  7. Bake preheated 350F about 40 minutes or done.
  8. Cool completely before cutting.
  9. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
