Frying Saucers Recipe

Frying Saucers Recipe
With today's rising food costs and kid's unhealthy eating habits, this recipe should help a little bit with both. Turkey is still generally cheaper than beef and healthier than pork. Beans are a great source of protien.

Ingredients
  • 2 lbs ground turkey
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese ( your choice )
  • 1 lg tomatoe skinned and chopped
  • 1 can kidney beans ( drained and mashed )
  • 2 10 oz refrigerated whole wheat hot loaf
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 tspn water

Directions
  1. Cook and stir ground turkey in large frying pan. Stir in cheese, tomatoes and kidney beans. Divide dough into 16 pieces and roll into 5 inch circles on lightly floured board. Put about 1/2 cup mixture onto 8 of the circles and moisten the edges of dough with a bit of egg/water mixture. Moisten remaining dough edges the same way and place egg side down on top of mixture to cover. Seal with a fork as you would for any pie. Brush tops with remaining egg/water mix. Flip over into a lightly greased medium heated frying pan so the egg side is down and turn once, adding a bit of egg/water mix before flipping. Done when golden brown, about 4-5 min each side.
