Horn And Hardart Macoroni And Cheese

- 1 1/2 Tbs butter shopping list
- 2 Tbs flour shopping list
- 1 1/2 cup milk shopping list
- 2 Tbs light cream (milk will work) shopping list
- 1 packed cup shredded cheddar cheese shopping list
- 1/4 cup crushed tomatoes shopping list
- 1/2 Tsp sugar shopping list
- Dash cayenne pepper shopping list
- Dash white pepper shopping list
- Dash salt shopping list
- 1/2 lbs. small elbow macaroni, cooked until barely done. shopping list
How to make it
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat, blend in flour and cook about 2 minutes
- Beat in the milk, then the cream and cook over medium heat, stirring contently, until the mixture comes to the boil and thickens. Remove from heat.
- Stir in the cheese until melted, then the crushed tomatoes, sugar, salt and peppers.
- Stir in the macaroni.
- Pour in a shallow, buttered baking dish and bake in a preheated 400 degree oven until the cheese browns, 25 to 30 minutes.
