The syrup harden once it was out of the oven. I suggest making the syrup at the point of serving the French toast.

I have been making this French Toast for several years now and it is always a big hit. However, I use cinnamon bread instead of raisin bread and add 1 c. of chopped pecans.

This would be great on busy mornings when you're short on time. You put it together the night before, & all that's left to do in the morning is bake it.
I never thought of using raisin bread for french toast. That's a great idea. I'm definitely going to try this one.
