Cherry Pudding

This is from my mom's Great Aunt Blance Sprague. She probably made it from her own cherries that she put up. I haven't found the recipe for that, but then why would you need a recipe to can?
Ingredients
- 1 Tbs lard shopping list
- 1/2 c. sugar shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- salt, a good pinch shopping list
- 1/2 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1 tsp soda shopping list
- 1 lg tsp baking powder shopping list
- enough flour to mix real stiff shopping list
- 1 pt sour cherries, drained and juice reserved shopping list
- Sauce: shopping list
- reserved cherry juice shopping list
- water shopping list
- 2 c. sugar shopping list
- 4 tbs flour shopping list
- pinch of salt shopping list
- 1/2 lb butter shopping list
How to make it
- Combine all ingredients and steam one hour
- For sauce,
- use cherry juice from cherries with same amount of water
- combine, sugar, flour, salt and butter, cook till thick.
