This is my slightly altered version of a recipe from a calendar (credited to the Pear Bureau Northwest). It's not the best pizza I've had, but with some experimenting it is really good!

Ingredients
  • 1 pear
  • 1 small, pre-baked whole wheat pizza crust
  • 1/2 cup Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup additional cheese (my husband can't get enough cheese, so I just threw on what we had)
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, diced
  • 1/8 tsp. black pepper, ground
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme leaves, fresh, removed from stem
  • large granule sugar (optional - I wanted to try brown sugar, but I didn't have any)
  • salt (optional)
  • 1/4 cup oil or dressing (optional)

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Slice the pear vertically, into about 24 slices (or use a planker if you have one).
  3. Place crust on foil-lined baking sheet.
  4. Brush oil or dressing over the edges of the crust. (optional)
  5. Sprinkle cheese and walnuts over crust.
  6. Place the pear slices in a circle around the crust.
  7. Sprinkle with pepper, thyme, salt, and sugar.
  8. Bake for about 12 minutes, watching the edges to make sure it doesn't get too crispy for your preference.
  9. Slice and enjoy!
