How to make it

  • Add all ingredients except the pepitas in order according to your breadmaking machines manual (Sunbeam Bakehouse dry ingreds. go in 1st).
  • Choose the Dough setting on your machine.
  • Once dough completed, turn out onto lightly floured surface and work in the pepitas.
  • Place dough in bowl and loosely cover with plastic wrap. Leave to double in size.
  • Punch dough down and form into 24 equal sized rolls, place onto lightly greased baking tray, loosely cover with plastic wrap & leave until rolls have doubled in size.
  • Preheat oven to 200 C (400 F), uncover rolls and bake until puffed & golden : about 12-15 minutes.
  • *Optional - Make different sized rolls for an assortment OR sprinkle tops with flour, herbs, seeds or grains.
  • TIP: To know if rolls are cooked, tap bottom and a hollow sound should be produced.
  • NUTRITION: about 6gm fat inc. 1gm saturated fat, 205mg sodium, 6 gm protein, 3gm fibre, 790Kj, 27 carbohydrates and no cholesterol.

    On monday I made some Wholemeal honey and currant rolls. Being a long weekend in australia they naturally got eaten when my mate & I got home after a few drinks. Taste very much like hot-cross-buns. Next time I'll add more spice and honey to the recipe. I will post this recipe when I've more time.
