Black Eyed Peas

- 2-16 oz. bag black eyed peas shopping list
- Chunk of salt pork, about 6 oz. shopping list
- 1 C. chopped onion shopping list
- 3 tsp. salt, or to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Rinse peas and pick over for bad or discolored peas and small stones; transfer to a large size pot.
- Cover with water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to a simmer and continue cooking for 5 minutes.
- Pour off this water and rinse again.
- Add more water to pot , enough to cover peas about 2 1/2 inches and add salt pork and onions.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium and simmer, covered, for about 1 hour.
- Uncover and cook for 3 to 4 hours, or until peas are tender.
- Add more hot water as needed.
- When the peas are tender stir in the salt.
- Serve with Mamma's cornbread and collard greens.

Now I'm torn do I make these for this Sundays Chicken dinner or do I make your daddy's black eyed peas. a 5 from me

What I would do for just one more dinner at grandma's house. Cornbread, black eyed peas, collard greens, chicken & dumplings, peach cobbler and iced tea. My grandmother was such a wonderful woman. Happy new year to you Gem.
