Chocolate Chip Whole Wheat Cookies Recipe
If you're looking for a healthier chocolate chip cookie, try this one! I got this recipe from a Hershey's Chocolate Classics cookbook that I bought when I visited the Hershey's factory.

Ingredients
  • ¾ cup shortening
  • 1 ½ cups packed light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup unsifted whole wheat flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup chopped dried apricots or raisins
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

Directions
  1. Cream shortening and brown sugar in large mixer bowl until light and fluffy.
  2. Add egg, water and vanilla; beat well.
  3. Combine whole wheat flour, baking soda and salt; sir into creamed mixture.
  4. Stir in oats, dried apricots and mini chocolate chips.
  5. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheet; flatten slightly.
  6. Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Remove from cookie sheet; cool completely on wire rack.

These were great though I altered the recipe a bit by adding white chocolate chips, walnuts, and a 1/4 tsp each of cinnamon and ground cloves instead of the dried fruit and milk choco chips. DELICIOUS!!
