Super Easy Nut Brittle

- Extra butter, set aside shopping list
- 1 cup blanched slivered almonds (or sliced almonds) shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter (not margarine) shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 tbsp. light corn syrup shopping list
- OPTIONS: I've used mixed nuts, cocoanut, mixed dried fruit in various combinations. It's all good. shopping list
How to make it
- Line bottom and side of an 8" or 9" cake pan with aluminum foil (do not use plastic wrap or wax paper).
- Butter foil heavily and set pan aside.
- Combine almonds, butter, sugar and corn syrup in a 10" skillet.
- Bring to a boild over medium heat, stirring constantly.
- Continue to boil & stir constantly, until mixture turns golden brown (about 5-6 minutes).
- Working quickly, pour and spread candy evenly in prepared pan.
- Cool about 15 minutes, or until firm.
- Remove candy from pany by lifting edges of foil, peeling off foil. Cool thoroughly.
- If giving as a gift, it can be presented as a full disk or broken into pieces.
- Makes about 3/4 pound.
