Leahs Spiced Rhubarb Special Cold Toddy

- 2 pounds rhubarb, cut into small pieces, no need to peel. shopping list
- 3 cups water shopping list
- 1 stick of cinnamon shopping list
- 4 whole cloves shopping list
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice shopping list
- 1/2 cup orange juice shopping list
- 2 cups or less of ginger ale (diet ok too) shopping list
- **1 cup sugar syrup: shopping list
- 1 cup sugar + 1 cup water shopping list

- 1 cup orange flavored vodka - other flavors work well too! shopping list
- fresh orange/lemon slices shopping list
How to make it
- **First make sugar syrup:
- In pot, add 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water, stir over heat till sugar has been dissolved. Then bring to a boil, do not stir while boiling, and let boil for 5 minutes. You can then, let cool, put into a jar and keep in fridge until ready to use. This is great when making sweet tea, or other cocktails needing sugar syrup.
- **Put rhubarb into pot and 3 cups water and spices into pot, and let simmer until rhubarb is tender - maybe 15 minutes. Then strain, reserving all the liquids.
- To liquid, add cooler sugar syrup and fruit juices. Let chill in fridge.
- When ready to serve it up, put ice into glasses, add desired vodka amount, then add chilled spiced rhubarb mix and top of with ginger ale. Add fresh slice of orange, and voila - something very different and delicious.
