Ingredients

20 g butter

2 apples , peeled , cored and sliced into rings or dried apricots / cherries

75 g sugar

3 1/2 oz bread , siced and crusts removed

250 ml cream , 2 eggs beaten - mixed

Rind from 1 orange, cut into thin strips

Directions

Grease a 1 lr ovenproof dish .

Arrange the fruit slices in the base .

Sprinkle half the sugar .

Add the bread slices , flattening them abit .

Add the cream egg mixture with remaining sugar and pour over the bread with the orange rind .

Let it stand for 30 mins .

Pre heat oven at 180 deg .

Bake for 30 mins and serve warm .

In Malaysia, bread pudding is consumed with custard sauce but it may be served with a sweet sauce of some sort, such as whiskey sauce, rum sauce, or caramel sauce, but is typically sprinkled with sugar and eaten cold in squares or slices.
