Dilly Biscuit Squares and Dill Butter

- 2 c. all-purpose flour shopping list
- 4 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- 1 Tbsp. granulated sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 c. shredded sharp cheddar cheese shopping list
- 1/4 c. shortening shopping list
- 3/4 c. milk, or as needed shopping list
- dill Butter: shopping list
- 1/4 c. butter (no substitutes), melted shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. dill weed shopping list
- 1/8 tsp. garlic powder shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 450 F.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Add cheese.
- Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in milk just until moistened.
- Turn onto a lightly floured surface.
- Pat or roll into a 3/4 inch-thick square.
- Cut into 12 squares.
- Place 1/8 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 450 F. for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- Combine butter, dill, and garlic powder; brush over hot biscuits.
- Serve warm.
- Refrigerate leftovers.
