Japanese Beef Stir Fry

- 3 tbsp. salad oil for meat and 2 tbsp. to cook vegies shopping list
- 1 lb sirloin steak thinly sliced shopping list
- 2 tsp. brown sugar shopping list
- 1 - 2 fresh garlic cloves minced shopping list
- freshly ground pepper (to taste) shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/4 cp soya sauce shopping list
- 2/3 cp celery, cut into thin slices on diagonal shopping list
- 1 large onion quartered shopping list
- 1 green pepper sliced thin strips or small chunks shopping list
- 2 tomatoes cut into wedges shopping list
- cooked rice - enough for 2-4 people shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oil in large skillet or stir fry pan.
- Add thinly sliced beef, stiring until just lightly seared.
- Sprinkle meat with sugar, garlic, pepper, salt and 1/2 of the soya sauce.
- Cook for about another minute or two until meat is just about done - set aside meat in serving dish while you cook vegetables.
- Now place the 2 tbsp. oil in same stir fry pan and reheat at medium high.
- Add celery, green peppers, onion and remaining soya sauce. Grind additional pepper over the mixture.
- Stir fry for a few minutes until the vegies are tender crisp - do not over cook!
- Lastly add tomato sections and stir into vegies, add meat now and stir and cover and cook another five minutes stiring occasionally.
- Serve at once over hot cooked rice.
