Ingredients
  • Onions - 6
  • Garlic - 10 cloves
  • Tomatoes - 1/2 kg
  • Cilantro seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
  • Dried red chillies - 7
  • Poppy seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Grated coconut - 2 tbsp full
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Roasted gram - 1 and 1/2 tbsp
  • Cilantro leafs - 1 small bunch
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - as required
  • Sugar - 1 tsp

Directions
  1. Chop onions and garlic finely.
  2. In a pan, add tomatoes and pour water till all the tomatoes sink. Boil them for 7 minutes. Peel and grind the tomatoes. Filter the juice.
  3. Fry the cilantro seeds, fennel seeds and dried red chillies without oil. Powder them, after frying. (powder 1)
  4. Fry the poppy seeds in a pan without oil.
  5. Add grated coconut & roasted gram to powder 1. Grind to a fine paste. (powder 2)
  6. Fry mustard seeds in oil. Add chopped onions and garlic. Fry till the onions are cooked and the fresh smell of garlic disappears.
  7. Add chopped cilantro leaves and turmeric powder. Fry for 30 secs more.
  8. Add powder 2, salt, sugar and tomato extract.
  9. Allow it to boil till the curry thickens.
