Ham With Cherry Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

1 Virginia hickory smoked ham (if you can, get the butcher to spiral slice it.)

whole cloves

Glaze for ham:

1/2 cup black strap molassas

1/2 cup apple juice or sweet cider

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup minced onion (optional- I just like onion!)

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp ground clove

Cherry Sauce:

1 Large can Cherry pie filling

1/4 cup red hots

1/4 cup butter

If you don't have redhots, use 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp clove

Directions

Score the ham and stud with whole cloves

Combine glaze ingredients and rub glaze all over it. Bake in oven acording to directions on the lable.

In sauce pan, empty the large can of cherry pie filling, 1/4 cup red hots and butter. Gently heat until redhots disolve. If you find it reducing too much, add a little apple juice.

To serve, spoon cherry sauce over ham slices.

This sounds absolutely wonderful! There's nothing like a good Virginia ham, and your glaze and sauce would be delicious accompaniments to it. Hams were one of my daddy's specialties. He used to fix them several different ways, and an apple cider glaze was one way he did it. He would have absolutely loved your recipe!
