How to make it

  • grind ginger and garlic into a paste
  • grind cardamoms,cinnmon and cloves into a paste adding a little water (1 teaspoon).
  • in a pan,roast green gram on medium heat till golden brown,strirring
  • constantly,remove and wash gram.
  • heat oil in cooker for about 5 minute.add bay leaves and cumin seeds.stir for a few seconds.add onion and fry till golden brown.
  • add ginger-garlic paste.stir for a few seconds.add gramand all other ingredients execept water,spice paste and ghee.mix.add remaining water.stir.
  • close cooker.bring to full pressure on high heat,reduce heat and cook for 4 minutes.
  • remove cooker from heat and allow to cool naturally.
  • open cooker and add spice paste.stir.pour ghee or butter evenly over khichuri.serve hot.
  • Even you can make it without Pressure cooker,only thing you have to boil the rice properly.
