How to make it

  • Combine sugar and water in a saucepan stirring to dissolve sugar.
  • Bring to a boil and boil 5 minutes.
  • Add cranberries and bring to a boil again.
  • Cook another 5 minutes on slightly reduced heat.
  • Pour into a heat proof dish or chafing dish.
  • Heat brandy.
  • Ignite heated brandy with a match and carefully pour over the cranberry mixture.
  • Blend brandy gently into the sauce and serve over ice cream.
