How to make it

  • Butter a skillet
  • dig a hole in the sourdough bread, butter one side and lay it, butter side down on the skillet, crack an egg into the hole. Repeat with all the eggs and bread.
  • Gently flip when bread is toasty brown, and toast the other side.
  • Serve as is or with sausage patties or bacon striips

    Aw, what a wonderful story. Love my eggs this way, momma called hers eggy toast. Either way, it is delicious.
