Ingredients

How to make it

  • Prepare Rice in the usual way, if you are using instant rice, no need to precook.
  • Prepare hamburger, cooking well and draining off fat.
  • Prepare pot of water, filling it to about half-full.
  • Tear off the outer Greenest leaves, be sure not to split the leaves, you want them as whole as possible..these are the main leaves for recipe and you may need more then a few heads of cabbage.
  • The recipe works well with the light greens too, all the nutrients are in the Greener Leaf.
  • Fill the pot with the torn off leaves let them steep till stems soften, you may want to do the greener leaves first they take the longest time then add the smaller lighter leaves. You won't be using the whole cabbages just enough leaves to fill with stuffing.
  • As each preparation gets ready add mixture of Rice, Hamburger, diced tomatoes together with the Cayenne Pepper. Give it a good stir.
  • Take leaf and fill with mixture, about 2 TBS for biggest leaves. Overlap 2 smaller leaves to make a bigger leaf.
  • Wrap sides of leaves and then roll them to close them up, just like making a burrito.
  • Pour some Tomato Sauce into bottom of leaf pot that was drained
  • Place finished leaves seems down in pot stacking in rows with Sauce in between them.
  • Stew for 1 hr on Simmer or low heat. You can increase the heat but you must not let bottoms of leaves burn.
  • When Cabbage Rolls are ready, use cooking tongs to remove carefully so as not to loose stuffing.
  • You can also lay in a glass Dish and bake in the oven if you don't want to use stove-top, bake at 350 for an hour

Using the same stuffing recipe of hamburger, diced tomatoe, rice and cayenne pepper. You can core out 8 bellpeppers, of any color, and stuff them with mixture in a glass dish. Cover the tops with Bacon Strips and Tomatoe Sauce, pour whole can into dish and cover with Aluminum Foil, for 45 minutes. Remove foil then cook additional 15 minutes. Serve with Garlic Bread.
