How to make it

  • Frost glass by rubbing a small piece of orange rind along the rim of the glass to moisten, then dip in sugar
  • Peel the rind off of 1/2 of the orange, in 1 long spiral strip.
  • Fit the orange peel into the top of the glass
  • Add a lump or two of ice to glass
  • Shake all ingredients with shaved ice
  • Strain into prepared wine glass
  • Note: if too tart reduce lemon juice, and add simple sugar to taste
  • Note: This is a presentation drink.. sure to impress with the huge piece of orange peel inserted into the glass. (see picture)
  • Modifications: Rum or Gin can be substituted for Brandy.

I'm with krum, this is a new one on me, but sounds fabuous. Can't wait to see your posts of smashes, scaffas, juleps, flips, fizzes, daisies and cobblers. I've also never hear of a scaffa or daisie or cobbler drink. Can't wait to see some. Keep em coming. You have my 5 on this one.

Even early in the morning, this one sounds wonderful...have not heard of a "crusta" but I will attempt one now that I know what it is - sounds very refreshing and perfect for the hot summer. Thanks!
