How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a loaf pan.
  • Combine all the dry ingredients (sugar, cinnamon, flour and baking soda) with the butter and blend with your fingers until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  • Take 1/2 of the crumbs for cake topping.
  • To remaining mixture, add the yogurt and vanilla.
  • Blend until just combined.
  • Pour mixture into greased loaf pan and sprinkle crumbs on top.
  • Bake 50 minutes.
  • Cool 10 minutes in pan before turning out.

    Small world. My "Basic Coffee Cake" is an only slightly tweaked cake I made in Jr. High Home Ec eons ago, too.

    My husband tells me that if cinnamon were creamy I'd sip it through a straw. I had never realized he'd noticed how much I love it.
