Indopak Green Chutney Recipe
This green chutney, called "hara masala" is served daily in India & Pakistan alongside curries, rice dishes & fish. It is also a great ingredient to add to ground beef, stewed chicken or almost anything in which you want a little spicy flavor.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 fresh coconut; grated (or 1 cup dry, unsweetened coconut)
  • 1 small bunch fresh coriander leaves
  • 6 medium jalapenos; seeded ( or to taste )
  • 1 marble-sized ball of unsweetened tamarind paste
  • 1-inch piece finely-grated fresh ginger
  • 6 cloves peeled garlic
  • 1/2 teasp. salt ( or to taste )
  • 1/4 teasp. sugar (optional)

Directions
  1. In blender jar: grind all ingredients together to a fine paste, scraping down sides of jar often & adding a bit of water, if necessary. Store 1 to 2 weeks in refrigerator.I also freeze this in ice-cube trays & once frozen I put cubes in baggies in the freezer. Thaw in micro. & use in any dish you like.
