How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Mix sugar with butter, anisette, anise seeds, vanilla, nuts and eggs then mix well.
  • Stir in flour, baking powder and salt then form into a long loaf and place on cookie sheet.
  • Bake 30 minutes or until firm and softly cake like then remove from oven and cool slightly.
  • When cool enough to handle slice into 1/2" diagonal slices and return to cookie sheet.
  • Bake 20 minutes long turning once until both sides are brown flecked and toasted.
  • Cool thoroughly and store in airtight jar.
