Cherry Bonbon Cookies Recipe
These are very light and delicate and tastes great. This is one of the cookies that my friend Brenda brings to my annual cookie exchange every year and they are very popular and always heavily sought out. Enjoy

Ingredients
  • 24 maraschino cherries undrained
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 3/4 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons light cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar
  • Cherry Glaze:
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup reserved cherry juice
  • Red food coloring

Directions
  1. Drain cherries reserving 1/4 cup juice for glaze then set aside.
  2. Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy.
  3. Gradually add 3/4 cup powdered sugar beating well.
  4. Stir in flour and next 3 ingredients then shape into 24 balls.
  5. Press each ball around a cherry covering completely then place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and drizzle with cherry glaze.
  8. To make glaze combine first 3 ingredients then add food coloring.
  9. Place in small plastic bag and seal.
  10. To drizzle snip a tiny hole at one corner of bag and gently squeeze bag.
