How to make it

  • Heat the bacon grease in a heavy skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced greens & saute, stirring, for 4 or 5 minutes. Turn heat to low. Add remaining ingredients except for salt. Bring to boil & then cover & simmer on very low heat for 20 minutes, or until greens are tender. Taste greens & add the salt if necessary. Serve with fried chicken, ham, or whatever meat you like & of course, biscuits!

    Just an added note: I forgot to list 3 Tablesps. of water when I posted this recipe. Dish shouldn't bee too liquidy, but you need a bit of liquid, so it can sweat.
