Lentils Pakistani Style Recipe
A simple lentil curry, just like mama used to make! (assuming your mama's from pakistan...)

Ingredients
  • 1 cup dry lentils
  • 2cups water
  • 5 whole garlic cloves (or 5 teaspoons minced garlic)
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • /4 onion, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin

Directions
  1. Put the water, garlic, salt, coriander, cayenne pepper, and turmeric in a pot, and bring it to a boil
  2. add the lentils, and bring the concoction back to a boil
  3. reduce heat, simmer covered for about 15 minutes
  4. mix the oil, and cumin then brown/carmelize the onions in it
  5. add the browned/carmelized onions to the lentils, and simmer for a few more minutes
  6. serve over freshly steamed rice!
