Banana Nut Bars

- 1 cup butter, cubed shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar shopping list
- 1 cup mased ripe bananas (about 2 med.) shopping list
- 1/2 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract shopping list
- 2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts shopping list
- FROSTING: shopping list
- 1 pkg. (8-oz.) cream cheese, softened shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter, softened shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- 3 1/2 cups contectioners sugar shopping list
How to make it
- In a small saucepan, bring butter and water to a boil.
- Remove from the heat; set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the sugar, bananas, buttermilk, eggs and vanilla until blended.
- Combine flour and baking soda; gradually add to sugar mixture.
- Carefully beat in butter mixture until blended.
- Stir in nuts.
- Pour into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan.
- Bake at 50 degrees for 18-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Cool on a wire rack.
- For the frosting; in a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the vanilla.
- Gradually add the confectioners sugar until smooth.
- Spread olver bars.
- Store in the refrigerator.
