Cajun Country Baked Brisket

- 1 4-1/2 pound beef brisket, untrimmed shopping list
- 3-4 tablespoons olive oil shopping list
- 1/4 cup white wine vinegar shopping list
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil shopping list
- 2 tablespoons ketchup shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder shopping list
- 2 teaspoons black pepper shopping list
- 1 envelope (1.4 ounce) dry Lipton Onion Soup Mix shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
How to make it
- In large skillet , brown brisket in hot olive oil over high heat 5 minutes on each side
- Place in a lightly greased 9 X 13 inch pan
- In a bowl, stir together vinegar and the next 6 ingredients
- Pour this mixture over brisket
- Add 1 cup of water to the pan
- Cover with foil, bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours, basting every hour
- Reduce oven temperature to 300 degrees, bake for 1 more hour
- Skim the fat from drippings and discard
- Serve the drippings with the brisket
