Cajun Country Baked Brisket Recipe
Straight from Cajun Country. Easy, flavorful, tender. Served with potato salad, this brisket is a sure winner! Delicious.

Ingredients
  • 1 4-1/2 pound beef brisket, untrimmed
  • 3-4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 envelope (1.4 ounce) dry Lipton Onion Soup Mix
  • 1 cup water

Directions
  1. In large skillet , brown brisket in hot olive oil over high heat 5 minutes on each side
  2. Place in a lightly greased 9 X 13 inch pan
  3. In a bowl, stir together vinegar and the next 6 ingredients
  4. Pour this mixture over brisket
  5. Add 1 cup of water to the pan
  6. Cover with foil, bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours, basting every hour
  7. Reduce oven temperature to 300 degrees, bake for 1 more hour
  8. Skim the fat from drippings and discard
  9. Serve the drippings with the brisket
