Krummelpap - Crumbly Corn Porridge

- 3 cups water shopping list
- 2,5 ml salt shopping list
- 4 cups maize meal shopping list
How to make it
- Bring water to boil and add salt
- Dunk all the meal into the water in one go and place lid on pot allowing water to come back to boil
- Mix meal and water by quickly drawing the stirring tool from the edge of pot through the middle of the meal.
- Taste the mix - that is the raw taste
- Turn down heat to lowest setting and allow to steam
- Stir as described, about every 5 min and taste the pap
- Continue until "raw taste" is gone and pap has a pleasant nutty flavour
- If you think the pap is too dry, drizzle some water down the side of the pot and stir briskly thereafter
- Enjoy (a) Warm with milk + sweetner for breakfast; (b) Cold with sour milk (or youghurt) for lunch (c) With homemade tomato sauce as side dish at a braai (barbeque)
