How to make it

  • Make your dough, using your favorite recipe
  • While it is rising, heat 1/4 cup olive oil in skullet. and cook garlic till tender.
  • Reserve oil and garlic.
  • Preheat oven to 350F
  • Brush a sheet pan with olive oil.
  • Spread dough on pan. to an 8 x 12 rectangle.
  • Spread on the reserved garlic and oil.
  • When dough has just begun to rise, place whole tomatoes on surface of dough, pushig lightly to fix them in place.
  • Allow to dough rise double., surrounding the tomatoes.
  • Bake until browned about 30 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with the cheese and bake another 10 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle with the fresh basil and coarse salt.
