Sausage Mushroom Calzones Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 italian sausages
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 11/2c sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2tsp oregano
  • 1/2tsp basil
  • salt and pepper
  • 11/2c tomato sauce
  • 1/2c diced sweet green pepper
  • 1lb pizza dough
  • 11/2c shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese

Directions
  1. Remove casings from sausage. In non stick pan, cook sausage until no longer pink about 5 minutes. Drain fat; add garlic, onions, mushrooms, basil oregano and salt and pepper to taste; cook for 5 mins. Stir in tomato sauce and green pepper; simmer for 5mins. Let cool.
  2. On floured surface, roll out dough into 4 8"(20cm) rounds. Spoon about 3/4c filling over half of each; sprinkle with cheese. Fold dough over, gently pulling to cover filling; pinch to seal.
  3. Place on greased baking sheet; cut slits on top. Dust with flour. Bake in a 425F (220C) oven until golden, about 20 minutes.
