How to make it

  • cream the butter and sugar
  • add the almond and 1 egg.. beat until fluffy
  • add cinnamon, orange zest, and rum. beat until smooth
  • in separate bowl .. stir together flour and baking powder
  • add to the butter mixture and combine lightly
  • wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate about a hour or until firm
  • roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness
  • cut out your favorite shapes...
  • place cookies 1/2-inch apart on a greased baking sheet
  • brush cookies with beaten egg
  • bake at 350' F for about 10 minutes or until light golden in color
  • cool on a wire rack
  • makes about 72 cookies depending on the size and shape you cut
  • store them in an airtight container
