How to make it

  • Bring a large pot of heavily salted water to a boil.
  • Blanch broccoli for 3 minutes, remove with slotted spoon, shock in ice bath and reserve.
  • Return water to boil and cook pasta. Drain pasta but do not rinse.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat place olive oil, onion & ground pepper. Saute until onion is translucent (about 4 minutes).
  • Add sausage to pan and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add bell pepper and garlic, saute until garlic turns golden (about 3 minutes).
  • Add chicken stock and bring to a boil, top with broccoli cover and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Turn heat off, do not uncover and allow to sit for about 5 minutes or until broccoli is tender.
  • Toss pasta with sauce and cheese and serve.
