Paula Deens Boston Fudge Cake with Fudge Sauce

- Cake: shopping list
- 2 cups brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup shortening shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla shopping list
- 2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted shopping list
- 3 eggs shopping list
- 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- Fudge Sauce: shopping list
- 1 bar German chocolate shopping list
- 1/2 square unsweetened chocolate shopping list
- 1 stick butter shopping list
- 3 cups unsifted powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 2/3 cups evaporated milk shopping list
- 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease and flour a sheet pan.
- To make the cake, cream together sugar, shortening; add buttermilk and vanilla.
- Add melted chocolate, and eggs, 1 at a time; beat for 2 minutes.
- Sift together dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture.
- Beat an additional 2 minutes.
- Pour into prepared sheet pan.
- Bake for 35 minutes.
- To make the sauce, melt chocolate and butter in saucepan over very low heat.
- Stir in powdered sugar, alternately with evaporated milk, blending well.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
- Cook and stir until mixture becomes thick and creamy, about 8 minutes.
- Stir in vanilla; serve warm over cake.
