Grandma Hagans Winter Soup

- 2 cup northern beans; dried shopping list
- 1 1/2 cup carrot; chopped shopping list
- 1 1/2 cup cabbage; chopped shopping list
- 4 cup potatoes; diced shopping list
- 1/3 cup rice shopping list
- 2 single onion; chopped shopping list
- 3/4 box elbow macaroni shopping list
- 1 quart tomato juice shopping list
- milk shopping list
- butter shopping list
- salt and pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Stock: On the night before preparation, cover beans in a pot with water and place in refrigerator.
- On the day of preparation, cook the beans and onions for 1 to 1 1/2 hr.
- Add carrots and cabbage, then potatoes and juice. Add macaroni and rice last.
- Serving instructions: Remove as much stock as needed and place in a pot. Add milk to desired color and thickness (generally, the soup should appear light pink). Add 1 tsp butter per serving, salt and pepper to taste, heat and serve.
