How to make it

  • As written:
  • Use day-old bread, crusts and all, cutting it in 1/4 to 1/2 in. cubes. Place these in a buttered 1 qt. baking dish.
  • Scald milK with butter and sugar. Beat the eggs slightly; add the salt; then stir in the warm milk and vanilla. Pour over the bread cubes.
  • Set the baking dish in a pan containing warm water up to the level of the pudding and bake at 350 for 1 hr.
  • Raisins and spices may be added.

    One of my favorite ways to eat bread, LOL! This is perfect, old fashioned, bread pudding. Just bread and pudding. The pudding part was light like flan. I made half the recipe and it was an ideal serving for 2 in a small pie plate (5.5") and only took 1/2 hour to bake.

    Wow now this sounds yummy! And it sounds like I can make it and to be honest I am not that good cooking yet but I am hoping to re-learn as fast as I can !!

    Now this sounds like an easy recipe. My Son loves bread pudding and this one seems to be one that even I could not mess up. I will make it this weekend and let you know. Also I printed, book marked and added this recipe to my Group Recipe cook book that sits on my kitchen counter top. Thanks for the post. Take Care Sue
