How to make it

  • Bring milk to a boil.
  • Add 1/2 cup butter and stir in grits.
  • Cook stirring constantly until mixture is the consistency of oatmeal about 5 minutes.
  • Remove grits from heat then add salt, pepper and beaten eggs then beat well.
  • Add 1/3 cup butter then stir in grated Gruyere and pour into greased casserole.
  • Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and bake at 350 for 1 hour.
