Its A Pizza Party Recipe

Its A Pizza Party Recipe
This is something that we like to do when friends come over for a casual evening with food and cocktails. Our friends get very creative with their toppings, I hope you will too!

Ingredients
  • Pizza Dough
  • 1 cup less 3 Tbsp. warm water
  • 3 Tbsp. red wine
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup bread flour
  • 1 Tbsp. sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • Toppings:
  • Your favorite jarred pizza (or pasta) sauce
  • Browned italian sausage
  • shredded cheese (I like a mixture of mozarella, romano, and asiago)
  • pepperoni
  • fresh sliced roma tomatoes
  • fresh chopped onion, bell pepper
  • fresh basil leaves
  • red pepper flakes
  • garlic powder (or minced fresh garlic)
  • chopped ham
  • pineapple chunks
  • fresh sliced mushrooms
  • Be creative - anything you might like to try. Our friends also like alfredo sauce with gorgonzola and pear slices, cubed/cooked chicken with crumbled bacon and shredded swiss cheese. The sky's the limit

Directions
  1. Dough:
  2. Combine water, yeast, and honey in a small bowl and let stand until it becomes foamy, about 5 minutes.
  3. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  4. Whisk both flours and salt together in the bowl of a stand mixer; add yeast mixture and oil. Mix on low speed using a dough hook - blend well, it will be ready when dough is smooth and springs back when pressed, about 7 minutes.
  5. Transfer to a bowl that has been oiled.
  6. Place in a cool oven with the pot of boiling water on the rack next to it.
  7. Allow dough to rise until doubled - 1 hour.
  8. Divide into four pieces and wrap in plastic wrap.
  9. Stretch into 7 inch rounds (2 at a time) on a lightly oiled baking stone(or chill for up to two weeks or freeze)
  10. Spread about 3 Tbsp. of your chosen sauce on the dough rounds.
  11. Load with your favorite toppings.
  12. Bake for 10 - 12 minutes (more if the pizza is really loaded)
  13. Let the pizza cool 8 - 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Let everyone pitch in and make an evening of it.

Great idea and a sure crowd pleaser. Great post my friend and a high 5.

A culinary delight.

Excellent!

Thank-you

Kind Regards

Can the dough be worked by hand for us po' folk who refuse to spend money on a standing mixer?

Oh, of course! It's just more elbow grease! I can't wait to hear how it turns out for you!
