Winter Stir Fry with Root Vegetables

- 1/4 pound boneless sirloin steak shopping list
- 2/3 pound carrots shopping list
- 1 tablespoon vinegar shopping list
- 1 tablespoon roasted sesame oil shopping list
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce shopping list
- 2 tablespoons mirin shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper powder shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon dry-roasted sesame seeds shopping list
How to make it
- Thinly slice steak across the grain then cut the slices lengthwise in half to make narrow strips.
- Cut the carrots lengthwise into narrow strips.
- Heat a large heavy skillet over medium high heat.
- Add sesame oil and allow to heat 20 seconds then add vegetable strips and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
- Add meat and stir-fry 1 minute then lower the heat to medium.
- Cover and let cook for 3 minutes longer.
- In a small bowl mix together the soy sauce and mirin then pour over the stir-fry and stir to coat.
- Let simmer for 1 minute then turn out onto a plate and mound.
- Sprinkle the red pepper and sesame tops over the top and serve warm or at room temperature.
