How to make it

  • Thinly slice steak across the grain then cut the slices lengthwise in half to make narrow strips.
  • Cut the carrots lengthwise into narrow strips.
  • Heat a large heavy skillet over medium high heat.
  • Add sesame oil and allow to heat 20 seconds then add vegetable strips and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add meat and stir-fry 1 minute then lower the heat to medium.
  • Cover and let cook for 3 minutes longer.
  • In a small bowl mix together the soy sauce and mirin then pour over the stir-fry and stir to coat.
  • Let simmer for 1 minute then turn out onto a plate and mound.
  • Sprinkle the red pepper and sesame tops over the top and serve warm or at room temperature.
