How to make it

  • Dissolve chocolate in boiling water;
  • Cream together butter and sugar;
  • Add 4 egg yolks, one at a time; beat thoroughly;
  • Add melted chocolate, mix well;
  • Add milk, flour, baking powder and vanilla
  • Beat 3 egg whites until stiff peaks form, then stir carefully into batter with a pinch of salt.
  • Bake at 350 in 2 layer pans, lightly greased and floured.
  • Bake for 1/2 hour, check at 25 minutes.
  • FROSTING:
  • Cream together cream cheese, butter and cream;
  • Add enough powdered sugar to get a good spreading consistency.
  • CHOCOLATE FILLING:
  • Beat all ingredients together well and add 1 stiffly beaten egg white

    You got it! Actually, I have found a source of chocolate that is basically just its fiber and good whatevers (antioxidants?): cocoa nibs. Dang. I add them to recipes or sprinkle on stuff and feel healthy! But chocolate cake tastes better. Thanks!
