Bacon Casserole

- All ingredients are approximate as the quantities depend on the size of the casserole dish used. shopping list
- Half a pound of Collar bacon or Back bacon (smoked or unsmoked, your choice) shopping list
- 2lb of Peeled potatos cut into thin slices shopping list
- 2 tins of baked beans including the tomato sauce shopping list
- 2 tins of chopped tomatos shopping list
- 2 Large onions thinly sliced (not chopped) shopping list
- Worcester sauce shopping list
- salt and black pepper shopping list
- Couple knobs of butter shopping list
- One large high sided casserole dish shopping list
- Grated cheese of your choice to cover the casserole (optional) shopping list
How to make it
- Pre heat the oven to 190 degrees
- In the caserole dish add layer upon layer of the following:
- Half a tin of baked beans into the bottom.
- Add a couple of splashes of Worcester Sauce.
- Add a layer of onions over the beans.
- Add a layer of the Bacon.
- Add a layer of chopped tomatos
- Sprinkle with salt and peper
- Then add a layer of potatos.
- Continue to layer the ingredients in the casserole until you have used them all up ending with a layer of potatos.
- Place a couple knobs of butter onto the potatos and place the casserole dish into the oven uncovered.
- Cook at 190 degrees for one and a half hours.
- Remove from the heat and push a knife into the casserole to check that all the layers of potato are cooked.
- If not return to the oven and continue to cook checking every 15 mins until the casserole is cooked through.
- An optional topping you can add when the casserole is cooked, is to sprinkle the casserole with your favourite grated cheese and place under a grill until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
- You don't need anything else with this meal as it is filling and saves on the washing up!
